How are you doing? Really, have you taken the time to check in with yourself lately. Life can get so busy that we can get lost in our routine and because we are functioning, going through the motions, we forget to pause and feel.
Common definitions of mental health say it includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, which means it will affect how you think, feel and act. I often talk about balance and focusing equally on achieving a healthy mind, body, and soul because of the connection between our mental and physical health.
For the past two years we have been adapting and living amid a global pandemic that has changed our social interactions, among other things, which has had a direct impact on our emotional and psychological well-being.
Do you at times feel alone, stressed, or tired? I sure do. The accumulation of life’s events takes its toll at times, but we all have a role to play to better society and help one another. For me, this has meant creating an online fitness community that is able to offer that much needed human connection. More so, the time spent building connections also boosts positive actions like wanting to move more often, which mobilizes people for good—exercise releases endorphins that boost morale. Also, when taking certain types of fitness classes, like Barre Fitness, there is a direct connection established between the mind and body as concentration and focus to follow the routine is needed; even engaging a muscle during an exercise necessitates a strong mind and body connection. All of which are steps taken towards achieving a healthy mind, body and soul, and just overall mental health.
Take some time today to reflect on how you’re doing and do something good for yourself! You are not alone; we are all stronger when we come together. A quote I love states, “in a world where you can be anything, be kind”, so let’s show one another kindness and help each other grow!
